What You Should Do

There is a masterful piece by Mike Brock titled “What You Should Do”, published on his own blog and then republished in Techdirt, which is a must-read for this moment. It’s about resistance, and stepping up to the task.

It’s hard to know which parts to share as excerpts, but here’s just one:

The only resistance worth a damn is the one where you stop calculating the odds and start living your truth without reservation. What separates the merely clever from the genuinely courageous isn’t tactical brilliance but moral clarity—the willingness to act as if your conscience matters more than your comfort.

In a world filled with gormless suburban dads who fancy themselves global visionaries because they own Macbooks, we need to start separating out the people who are willing and able to step up – and always have, as Mike wrote, without reservation – from the hangers-on who want to bask in a little bit of that glory as long as it doesn’t inconvenience their lifestyles.

Be ruthless about that. Be as ruthless as the people who are coming for someone you care about.
